Drop Spindle 101 with Denise

Bring with you or purchase at the shop

• 1 spindle of any type - bottom, top whirl, or Turkish spindle
• 1 oz roving (sheep or alpaca)
• Or, purchase a beginning drop spindle kit at the shop - $9

Techniques covered

• Identify parts of a drop spindle and their functions
• Pre-draft fiber using your hands
• Add twist to fiber using the effective "park and draft" technique
• Stand and spin as you feel more comfortable
• Use the "ply back" technique to measure twist in your yarn
• Remove yarn from the spindle and create a skein
• Troubleshoot and avoid common pitfalls

Cancellation Policy
To cancel a lesson, please email us. To receive a full refund, the lesson must be cancelled 5 days before the lesson start time. We cannot offer any refunds after that time. 

Reschedule Policy
To reschedule a lesson, please email us. Lessons need to be rescheduled at least 48 hours before lesson start time, otherwise they will be considered cancelled. A lesson can only be rescheduled twice before it is cancelled.

No Show Policy
We will not offer any refunds for missed lessons.
